What is a Radial Fan?

Fans that create a pressure difference are called radial fans. The generated airflow operates in accordance with centrifugal force. A centrifugal fan is a mechanical device used to move air or other gases. These fans contain a rotating impeller and a helical housing. Air or gas enters parallel to the axis at the center, is pressurized, and then directed tangentially to the impeller's periphery into ducts, finally being expelled through the outlet.

Due to the high pressure they generate, centrifugal fans are ideal for high-pressure applications such as drying and air conditioning systems. Since all moving parts are enclosed, and they have particle reduction capabilities, they are particularly suited for air pollution and filtration systems.

APPLICATION AREAS

For small and medium-sized spaces:

  • Suitable for ventilation of bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, pantries, laundry rooms, garages, workplaces, etc.
  • Designed especially for ceiling-mounted ventilation applications using connection ducts attached to an exhaust fan.

FEATURES

  • A stylish and elegant front design makes it an essential part of decorative spaces.
  • Manufactured from high-quality ABS plastic, ensuring protection against bad odors, moisture, and similar external factors while maintaining its original appearance over time.
  • The air outlet flap prevents dust, bad odors, and cold air from entering when the fan is not in use while also preventing heat loss from escaping.
  • The front cover, exposed to dust, can be easily removed for cleaning via wiping or washing.
  • IP34 protection against water splashes.
  • Manufactured in compliance with EN 60335-2-80, Low Voltage Equipment [2006/95/EC], and Electromagnetic Compatibility [2004/108/EC] standards.

Factors to Consider When Selecting a Radial Fan

When choosing a fan, four key parameters should be considered:

  1. Required Airflow (m³/h)
  2. Pressure Losses
  3. Acceptable Noise Level
  4. Electrical Power Connection Type

The required air exchange rate for ventilation depends on the purpose of the space, the number of occupants, and their activities. The table below shows the necessary air change coefficients for different environments:

ENVIRONMENTAIR CHANGE RATE (per hour)
Classrooms5-7
Libraries4-5
Home Kitchens15-25
Bathrooms5-7
Home Toilets4-5
Public Toilets8-15
Meeting Rooms6-8
Offices4-8
Changing Rooms6-8

The required airflow can also be determined based on the number of occupants and their activity levels:

Activity LevelAirflow per Person (m³/h)
Normal Activity (Non-smoking)29
Normal Activity (Smoking)58
Light Activity45
Heavy Activity60

The required airflow can be calculated using the following formulas:

Q (m³/h)=Air Change Rate×Room Volume (m³)Q \text{ (m³/h)} = \text{Air Change Rate} \times \text{Room Volume (m³)}

or

Q (m³/h)=Number of People×Required Airflow per Person (m³/h)Q \text{ (m³/h)} = \text{Number of People} \times \text{Required Airflow per Person (m³/h)}

Example Calculation

Let’s assume an office with 5 employees, a ceiling height of 2.6 meters, and a floor area of 50 m².
The room volume is:

2.6×50=130 m³2.6 \times 50 = 130 \text{ m³}

For offices, the air change rate is 4-8, so we take an average value of 5:

130×5=650 m³/h (required airflow)130 \times 5 = 650 \text{ m³/h (required airflow)}

Assuming normal activity levels:

5×29=145 m³/h (required airflow for occupants)5 \times 29 = 145 \text{ m³/h (required airflow for occupants)}

Total airflow requirement:

650+145=795 m³/h650 + 145 = 795 \text{ m³/h}

Installation Considerations

Once the airflow requirements are calculated, the installation location must be determined:

  • Ceiling-mounted
  • Wall-mounted
  • Duct-mounted

Additionally, the electrical voltage requirement must be considered:

  • For residential use → Single-phase (220V) fan
  • For industrial use → Three-phase (380V) fan
